    As a key research unit in Beijing University of Technology, the Institute of Microstructure and Property of Advanced Materials conducts inter-disciplinary researches and builds bridges among the fields of physics and chemistry, biology and materials science as well as environmental science etc. The researches deepen the understandings of nature and cover a number of fields on the microstructures and its correlations to physical and chemical, mechanical properties of solid materials at macro-, meso-, nano- and atomic scales. The researched solids include quasi-crystalline and nano-crystalline materials and functional materials such as shape memory alloys and other intermetallic compounds, oxides, magnetic materials, multi-layer thin films, semiconductors etc.
